The most popular event in soccer is the FIFA World Cup were each country gathers its best players and face off. I know that in America soccer is just a sport were Moms drop off there kids but everywhere else soccer is a religion. In 2018 the World Cup was viewed by 3.4 billion compared to the Super Bowl were it had 103.4 million viewers. I am not joking when I say soccer is the most popular sport in the world.

Especially his shoe collaborations; They are always selling out! For God sake they literally have a statue of him in Portugal. Inequality of Women in Soccer

Not only are women in soccer not making nearly as much money as the men but they are faced with unfair playing conditions and sexism from FIFA officials. In 2015 all the matches in the Women’s World Cup were played in artificial turf causing skin burns in many of the player’s legs. Compared to men in 2014 all their matches were played in grass. To make matters worse they have to deal with sexist remarks from people like Sepp Blatter. When asked how to make Women’s soccer more popular he simply said to just make them wear shorter shorts. This is unacceptable behavior coming from the President of FIFA during that time.

The Dark Side of FIFA

FIFA is known for how corrupt the organization is. The FIFA World Cup brings joy to its millions of passionate fans but it usually also brings pain and suffering to the country that is hosting this massive event. For example Brazil spent billions of dollars in hosting the 2014 World Cup but didn’t make a single cent. FIFA kept all the revenue! Also in Manaus, Brazil the world’s second most expensive stadium was built for this massive event just to end up as a parking lot for buses. This caused many of its citizens to riot. Qatar will face a similar fate. This not mentioning all the brides FIFA officials are suspected of accepting. During times in Colombia where nacros basically ruled the country. FIFA allowed the nacros to fund the Colombian soccer teams. This later turned to blood shed as Andrés Escobar Saldarriaga made a fatal mistake of making a own goal causing Colombia to be eliminated from the World Cup. The nacros enraged decided to murder him causing an uproar. How could the same people that bring so much joy bring so much pain and suffering.

Conclusion

Soccer is the world’s most popular sport but the people that organize most of the matches is full of evil crooks that have the potential of ruining the very same thing we adore. FIFA’s World Cups leaves behind a trail of pain and suffering. It also treats its women unfairly. FIFA needs to get its crap together and purge all the corruption of its organization. So that football ( how it is called everywhere but in the US) continues being prosperous and the world’s most loved sport.
